Three organizations will be working to tackle childhood obesity and chronic disease with the help of provincial funding. More than 1 million dollars has been given to Acadia University, Upward Mobility Kitchens East Inc., and Wasoqopa’q First Nation. Acadia University plans to create a sustainable farm-to-school program in Canning using its $320,000 in funding.
Youth Cooking Classes will be offered by Upward Mobility Kitchens East and Wasoqopa’q First Nation plans to develop a physical fitness program using traditional Mi’kmaq teachings.
