A motion to rescind a bylaw in Mahone Bay did not pass a special council meeting. The meeting was held yesterday regarding the sidewalk patio at 538 Main Street. It follows the death of 100 year-old Barbara Minard who allegedly passed away after falling at the site. Town staff will be asked to provide a report for another meeting to be held later this month to allow for public input. The Mayor made a motion to immediately withdraw the permit for the patio, which was voted down. The matter will be on the council’s agenda next Tuesday for further discussion.
