Province won’t provide enhanced income support to unhoused in tents

People living in tents will no longer qualify for enhanced income support. The Nova Scotia government changed the rules after the province’s Court of Appeal ruled that homeless people living in tents were eligible for the support. Lunenburg MLA and Minister of Opportunities and Development recommended the change earlier this week, and an order-in-council was filed. The same order-in-council updates this year’s income assistance rates to reflect inflation.
