MLAs receive pay raise from independent panel

Nova Scotia MLAs are getting a raise. An independent panel was struck to examine the annual salary of MLAs. That panel is increasing the base pay of MLAs to $115,000 from $89,000. Additional raises are being given to the Premier whose salary now increases to just over $115, 500, the Speaker of the House, the Opposition Leader, and Ministers among others. The increases are retroactive to December 1st, 2024. The panel also examined benefits and expense allowances and has recommended increases, but a decision has not been made. The last time MLAs had a pay raise was in 2013.
