Lunenburg Shipyard is moving forward with a $20 million modernization of its waterfront facility. The phased expansion will include a new mobile vessel lift, heavy-duty marine piers, an extension of the existing pier infrastructure, new service buildings, and redevelopment of the shipyard’s vessel repair and hardstand areas. The timing of the redevelopment is still not known as the company still has to gain approvals, financing and procurement. The company expects it will create additional skilled employment and increase the province’s ability to service vessels that have to leave the province right now for maintenance and repairs.
