The Town of Lunenburg is moving forward with a marketing levy. The town has been consulting with short-term rental and accommodation operators and plans to introduce the three per cent levy in 2027. The levy is added to the cost of accommodations at hotels, B&Bs, inns and short-term rentals and guests pay the fee, while operators collect it and give it to the town. The money collected will support tourism by promoting Lunenburg, improving tourism and visitor information, and marketing that helps extend the shoulder seasons.
