Long Term Care conciliation meeting set for March 24th

A conciliation meeting between the union representing Nova Scotia long-term care workers and the province is set for next Tuesday. About 4,000 workers at 40 of the 52 long-term care homes in the province have voted to strike if a deal with the province isn’t reached. The last meeting between CUPE and the province was last month, but both sides walked away without a deal. One of the sticking points is wages, with the union saying that Nova Scotia's long-term workers are the lowest paid in the Maritimes. If a deal isn’t reached next week, the workers will be in a strike position within 48 hours of the meeting ending.
