Latest on Long Long Fire (Aug 25 2pm)

Aylesford Mountain

The Long Lake wildfire complex has doubled in size, and the province says some homes have been damaged. The fire is now 7,780 hectares in size since it was last measured at 3,255 hectares. More mandatory evacuations were issued last night on Highway 10. Premier Tim Houston says firefighters are doing the best they can to limit damage, but the tinder-dry conditions are making it extremely difficult to fight the wildfire. Houston added that his heart goes out to everyone evacuated who are worried about their homes, adding, “All Nova Scotians stand with you at this difficult time.” There is no official word yet on how many homes have been damaged, as crews will need time to assess the impact.
