As dry conditions continue to plague Nova Scotia and fire crews battle wildfires, the province has made some recommendations for extra precautions for industrial and agricultural operations. Commercial operations like forestry and mining need a travel permit to continue working on Crown land. Where possible, such as in forestry, permits require work to be done between the hours of 8 p.m. and 10 a.m.; fire suppression equipment must be on hand, and there must be a two-hour fire watch after work is completed. The province is also strongly suggesting the same precautions be taken for any work being done on private property.
