Hospice Care in Lunenburg

Support for patients and families in need of end-of-life care will be available at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital beginning in January. A phased-in approach to opening hospice beds will start with two of the five planned beds opening. More beds will open once staff is in place. Recruitment for staff with end-of-life care competencies continues. Susan Corkum-Greek, MLA for Lunenburg, says the long-awaited opening of hospice beds is important for the South Shore, "The community helped build this unit, recognizing that our loved ones deserve a compassionate, private and dignified place to receive end-of-life care. Now they’ll have it.”
