Lunenburg West MLA Becky Druhan has taken to social media to address rumours about the future of Cedar Place, including its possible closure and relocation. Druhan says she has not received confirmation that the rumours are true, and over the past months, she has been in communication with the Minister of Opportunities and Social Development. She has emphasized during those conversations that the community must continue to have appropriate supports available, and services must operate in a location that supports both community safety and the dignity of the people accessing them. She has also raised three considerations with the Minister and Bridgewater Mayor David Mitchell. Those include maintaining service continuity, a proper location and avoiding service gaps. Druhan also acknowledged the work of the John Howard Society and other service providers. She promised to keep the community informed as confirmed updates are available.
