Community tips lead to several road safety initiatives

Thanks to tips from residents, Lunenburg RCMP conducted several targeted road safety initiatives recently. In Martens River a traffic stop led to an impaired charge, a checkpoint on Victoria Road in Lunenburg saw 30 vehicles checked, 30 screening tests, and one impaired driving charge. In Mahone Bay on Main Street a call from a concerned community member led to another impaired charge and 70 to 80 vehicles were observed in a speed enforcement initiative in an area of concern in Mahone Bay. One ticket was handed out for operating an unregistered vehicle and other warnings were issued related to vehicle registration, insurance, and motor vehicle inspections.  The RCMP says these tips from the public are making a difference and encourages the public to continue calling.
